Greek Police vs Antifa: ‘we blocked the road, they threw stuff’

(TFC) – A video posted to YouTube by news outlet RT, shows protests over the 5-year anniversary of the claimed assassination of Pavlos Fyssas, an Antifa Hip Hop artist, as they turn violent when police and Antifa clash. The side exchanged molotovs and tear gas with each other.

Pavlos Fyssas was stabbed to death by Neo-Nazis five years ago on September 17th after going out to watch a football game at a local bar with some friends in Athens. After leaving the bar around midnight, Fyssas, known by his rap alias Killah P, got into an altercation with a group of Neo-Nazis. After which the group, seeming to double in size hunted and stalked Fyssas. Eventually leading to the fatal altercation where he was stabbed as many as 25 times, allegedly happening in front of the city’s motorcycle police.

Upon gaining more information, the alleged and self-admitted murderer, Giorgos Roupakias, was a supporter/affiliate of political party Golden Dawn. The leader of the party has admitted to social responsibility for the murder but insists the party did nothing illegal.

In the video of the protests marking the 5-year anniversary of his death, Antifa protesters can be seen throwing molotovs at police while the police responded by shooting tear gas canisters at the protesters. The clashes began when police blocked the roads leading to Golden Dawn party offices. The video of the clashes is what ensued.

In the video, it appears both protesters and police arrived ready for violence. This may have something to do with the stabbing allegedly taking place in the presence of police who did nothing to intervene. If there’s one thing we can take away from this story, it’s that fascism is rearing its ugly head all around the world. As connections between American law enforcement, fascists, white nationalists, and their ilk continue to emerge, will it be long before assassinations of Americans can take place in front of law enforcement with impunity?
