Washington, DC (SCF) – Barack Obama suppresses intelligence reports which fail to support his case that he’s being effective against ISIS.
This, the latest, of the many ways in which President Obama has been exposed as following George W. Bush’s policies, was revealed recently in a Daily Beast exclusive news story.
On September 9th, Nancy Youssef and Shane Harris headlined there, “Exclusive: 50 Spies Say ISIS Intelligence Was Cooked,” and reported:
More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military’s Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda’s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials. … “The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command,” one defense official said. … One person who knows the contents of the complaint said it used the word “Stalinist” to describe the tone set by officials overseeing the military’s analysis. … The analysts have accused senior-level leaders, including the director of intelligence and his deputy in CENTCOM, of changing their analyses to be more in line with the Obama administration’s public contention that the fight against ISIS and al Qaeda is making progress. … The analysts have accused senior-level leaders, including the director of intelligence and his deputy in CENTCOM, of changing their analyses to be more in line with the Obama administration’s public contention that the fight against ISIS and al Qaeda is making progress.
CENTCOM’s director of intelligence is not public, but his deputy is Terence J. Meyer, Chief Information Officer, Intelligence Directorate, United States Central Command. Meyer is a registered Republican in Florida. (CENTCOM’s headquarters are in Tampa.) That means he’s very conservative, if not far-right, perhaps even farther to the right than is Obama himself. The Director of Intelligence, whomever he is, reports to CENTCOM’s head, who is General Lloyd Austin. Previously, it was General David Petraeus, who, before that, had headed the CIA, and before that, masterminded the death squads in El Salvador and then designed the torture program that was used when Iraq was invaded. Petraeus has since retired to become a partner at the international investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute. KKR has long been a leading investor in defense contractors, and Petraeus was brought on because of his friends in the German government and other CENTCOM governments.
For example, those friends know what sorts of weapons their government needs. For people such as Petraeus, wars mean that their business will boom, peace is the killer. General Austin can now follow the same path to great wealth. But his job right now is to do what President Obama wants him to do. Deep-sixing undesired intelligence reports seems to be part of that job. The current effort by the “more than 50 intelligence analysts” at CENTCOM, is their warning to the President that, unlike what their former CIA compatriots did regarding intelligence reports about “Saddam’s WMD,” they won’t keep quiet and accept the blame. This is a rebellion within the ranks.
Farther up the chain of command is Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who reports directly to President Obama. On September 9th, CENTCOM headlined, “Dempsey: Future of ISIL increasingly dim,” and opened, “The future of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is ‘increasingly dim’ as more nations join the anti-ISIL effort, according to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.” Exactly a year earlier, Mediaite had bannered “Chuck Todd Knows Why Obama Prefers ‘ISIL’ to ‘ISIS’,” and reported that NBC’s Todd, like almost everyone else, refers to Islamic State of Syria, instead of to Islamic State of Iraq and Levant. “Todd revealed why he, and many other pundits, believe Obama is insisting on saying ‘ISIL’ while the rest of the media (including Mediaite) seem to have agreed on ‘ISIS.’ ‘Obviously, we refer to it at NBC News as ISIS,’ Todd explained to anyone who may have been confused by the two different names. ‘The Obama administration, the president, says the word ISIL. The last ‘S’ stands for Syria. The last ‘L’ they don’t want to have stand for Syria.” In short: the reason why CENTCOM insists upon calling it ISIL is to fool the public into thinking that Obama’s main concern is Iraq, instead of Syria.
On July 6th, President Obama gave a press conference, “The President Provides an Update on Our Campaign to Degrade and Destroy ISIL,” in which he pretended that the only air forces that were attacking ISIS in Syria were from “the coalition,” though Assad’s air force is the main air force against ISIS, and Obama’s chief focus for his bombings in Syria has been against Assad’s forces. However, (at 6:40 in the video) Obama instead said, “In Syria, the only way that the civil war will end, and in a way so that the Syrian people can unite against ISIL, is an inclusive political transition to a new government, without Bashar Assad — a government that serves all Syrians.” Obama pretends to be fighting ‘ISIL’ instead of fighting Assad, who ran Syria when it was at peace and who was the most effective leader in Syria opposing Islamic jihadists of every type, ISIS, Al Qaeda, etc. Obama’s real target is Russia, which needs Syria in order to transport fuel cost-effectively to Europe.
Anyway, when General Dempsey, even as late as September 9th, referred to “Future of ISIL increasingly dim,” which he knew to be false on the basis of CENTCOM’s blocking information from their intelligence professionals who actually assemble and analyze the data, and so prohibiting the upper level officials from seeing what they don’t want to see, so that no one near to the President himself will get the blame for the ‘flawed intelligence,’ whenever the news-media finally become forced by circumstances to report that somehow ‘misstatements were made,’ and things were not actually as they had been stated by the President as being, Dempsey and his boss the President were just lying. That’s basically similar to George Tenet and George W. Bush’s lying about ’Saddam’s WMD,’ etc.
What, then, is CENTCOM? United States Central Command Coalition Countries are 50 in number, and include the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Djibouti, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Oman, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, U.A.E., and Yemen, as well as a few democracies, but exclude countries that have consistently fought against Islamic jihadists, such as Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa — all five of the BRICS nations. None of the BRICS is included.
For example, CENTCOM’s website features “Female Marines share tactics with Qataris,” but makes no mention that Qatar, which is owned by its royal family, the Thanis, or al-Thani clan, is the world’s chief financial backer of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Muslim Brotherhood is the Sunni group that lied their way into power in Egypt, and then gradually exhibited their thrust for Islamic law, and were consequently ousted by the Egytian military, which represents Egypt’s aristocracy, not Qatar’s aristocracy. Egypt is mainly a secular country, but the owners of Qatar need approval from Sunni clerics in order not to be overthrown by the masses — and thus finance the Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt too is a CENTCOM country, but has been increasingly abandoned by the United States after having outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood, which is virtually owned by the Thani family — Qatar’s aristocracy. U.S-Egyptian relations are thereffore now very strained. America’s aristocrats are allied with the secretly pro-jihadist aristocracies of the Arabic oil kingdoms, all of which are run by followers of the Saudi, rabidly jihadist, Sunni sect. So, that’s what Obama, like Bush before him, supports: Islamic jihadists. Obama simply opposes Russians more than he opposes jihadists. The is normal amongst American aristocrats and their servers (including Obama).
Basically, CENTCOM is a U.S.-led military alliance against Russia, China, India, and the other BRICS. Included in CENTCOM is India’s enemy, Pakistan, which harbors lots of Islamic jihadists. (It’s a Sunni nation, not a Shiite one.) So: though India, which has famously opposed Islamic jihadists, is excluded from CENTCOM, Pakistan, which has protected Islamic jihadists, is included in CENTCOM.
So, the United States military allies are primarily enemies of the countries that have consistently and effectively waged was against Islamic jihadists. This is not new with Obama. It was also true during the period when George W. Bush was President. In fact, to a limited extent, it was true even when Bill Clinton and the first George Bush were Presidents. It’s just more now than it was back before 2000.
Whereas the U.S. Government is schizophrenic about whether it supports or opposes the international Islamic jihadist movement, the U.S. Government is entirely consistent about its inimical stance regarding especially Russia, but also the other BRICS: Brazil, India, China, and South Africa.
Thus, on 28 May 2014, President Obama addressed the graduating class at the West Point Military Academy, and he told them this about the nation that he leads: “The United States is and remains the one indispensable nation. [So: all other nations are ‘dispensable.’] That has been true for the century passed [he misspelled ‘past’] and it will be true for the century to come.” And he didn’t mince words about what the enemies of ‘the one indispensable nation’ are. He said: “Russia’s aggression toward former Soviet states unnerves capitals in Europe, while China’s economic rise and military reach worries its neighbors. From Brazil to India, rising middle classes compete with us.” He was saying this, about “competition,” to military men, whose “competitors” are dealt with by bombs, instead of by lowered prices.
Is this something that America;s President should be assigning to new soldiers, or instead to new diplomats — or perhaps even to no tax-supported, government, agency whatsoever? How many subsidies to America’s international corporations should the American public be providing? Obama (perhaps he should be renamed “O’Bomba”) knew what he was doing there: identifying as ‘enemies’ the foreign aristocracies that seek to compete (economically, not militarily) against America’s aristocracy. For Obama to have raised economic-competitive issues in his address at West Point shows where his heart is at — it’s with the American aristocracy, who are the people that Obama really serves. He even tells West Point cadets they’ll be fighting for U.S. corporations.
So: Obama is George W. Bush in blackface, with less-bad grammar, and much prettier rhetoric. He serves the same masters, but under a different Party-label: instead of serving Republican aristocrats, he serves Democratic ones. The two types of aristocrats specialize in slightly different types of kleptocracy, but the results are quite similar.
