Charles Rae examines the left again and stumbles on hypocrisy. (TFC)
After the internet got a hold of Milo Yiannopoulos‘s interview where he jokingly discusses pedophilia, the left became outraged. But why? Is it because the left takes a hard moral stance against pedophilia, or is it because they dislike Milo Yiannopoulos?
While one would suspect it’s at least a little bit about pedophilia, upon further investigation we find that pedophilia culture comes in large part from the left. The first thing to parcel out is this moral outrage over Yiannopoulos. It’s notable that leftist sources and figureheads have tried to normalize pedophilia which is met with silence from leftist social media critics. Though sources considered reputable by the left, big names such as the New York Times, The Independent (UK), and The Huffington Post (x2) have written sympathetically about pedophilia and its normalization. Leftist site Salon published a blog in 2015 by an “out pedophile” named Todd attempting to destigmatize pedophilia, which they only quietly took down after Yiannopoulos came under fire. Leftist icon Janet Mock has attempted to normalize young girls selling their bodies for sex. This is just a small collection of examples of the outrage double-standard which is all too common for the left.
But there are even deeper things here to look at as well. Namely what is called Queer theory which started to present itself in the beginning of the 90’s coinciding with what is called 3rd Wave Feminism. Queer theory is an ideology that at its bones seeks to distort the view of what is normal sexual behavior and what is not, “queering the lines,” so to speak. If you head over to the Wiki page it illuminates this ideology,
“…queer theory builds both upon feminist challenges to the idea that gender is part of the essential self and upon gay/lesbian studies’ close examination of the socially constructed nature of sexual acts and identities. Whereas gay/lesbian studies focused its inquiries into natural and unnatural behaviour with respect to homosexual behaviour, queer theory expands its focus to encompass any kind of sexual activity or identity that falls into normative and deviant categories.” Wiki.
This seems to me at least part of the reason why the left doesn’t condemn, and sometimes outright supports behaviors that are “sexually deviant,” attempting to destigmatize them, because this modern normalization of “deviant sexual behavior” is an ideology which has come from the left. There are other sexual preferences or “orientations” that could be considered deviant and dangerous that are now accepted as mainstream because of the modern Queer theory saturation. A prevalent one is BDSM, which has become a euphemism for violent sex. It stands for Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, and Sadism and Masochism. The most obvious evidence I can give you for the success of this destigmatization is the recent popularization of book series and feature films Fifty Shades of Grey. Another example is the widespread left support of the exploitative and dangerous sex industry. Leftists call these stances “sex-positive,” but in reality, they’re popularizing and normalizing dangerous sexual behaviors.
While Yiannoopoulos’s comments were met with disdain, the left actively supports and promotes queer theory. It’s a theory that is attempting to classify pedophilia as a sexual orientation, and is promoted heavily through the left-supported sex industry, which at its structure provides an institution for the abuse and exploitation of children, and a place for pedophiles to access them. Marylou Singleton illuminated this quite succinctly saying, “Curious as to why so many liberals condemn Milo’s promotion of pedophilia but have no problem with Janet Mock’s celebration of child prostitution or the general promotion of “youth sex work” all over the left. I’d love to see a more unified stance against pedophilia and men who purchase children for sex.”
The ironic thing is that Breitbart, a notoriously alt-right/neonazi online news source that Yiannopoulos writes for, has published several times about the left’s sympathies towards pedophiles. In his press conference today, Yiannoloulos condemned pedophilia more directly than a lot of leftists do. So why is the left so mad at Yiannopoulos? Perhaps its ideological posturing, but I couldn’t tell you for sure. One thing it is, is hypocritical, and a sure sign that the left needs a revival. In order to do that, it must face its own internal contradictions, and learn reject party-line when it comes to views of pedophilia.
