Nasrallah Calls on Terrorists to Wake Up, Lay Down Arms

Middle East (Tasnim) – The secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement, Seyed Hasan Nasrallah, called on Daesh (ISIL) and other terrorist groups to lay down their arms, pleading for them to realize that they are serving American interests by fighting in the region.

“To Daesh, Nusra and the takfiri groups that are fighting, we tell you that you have been exploited over the last five years to destroy the ‘axis of resistance’ and the people of the region,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech marking the 10-year anniversary of the Lebanon-Israel war.

Admitting that it might be unusual to send a message to terrorists on the anniversary of the July war, Nasrallah called on the groups to take a step back and realize who they are fighting for.

The Hezbollah chief said it was important to listen to the latest speeches coming out from Washington in which officials have been admitting that the US was behind the creation of Daesh.

Among those figures is Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who recently called US President Barack Obama the “founder” of Daesh. Trump also called his rival in the election, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, the “co-founder” of Daesh, the Daily Star reported.

“The biggest weapon Trump is using against the Democrats is [to say] that they created Daesh. … He is saying ‘these were made by Clinton and Obama.’”

Nasrallah said he believed the US created Daesh to destroy the “axis of resistance,” and Hezbollah in particular, as the group was serving on the front line to disrupt western plans for the region.

The Hezbollah leader appeared on a large screen during the speech at an event in the southern town of Bint Jbeil attended by hundreds of supporters celebrating the party’s victory over Israel.

The summer 2006 war lasted for 33 days, killing 1,200 Lebanese, mainly civilians, and 160 Israelis, most of whom were soldiers.

Nasrallah warned that any future war with Israel would be its last, as even Israeli officials understand they cannot afford to strike Lebanon again.

“The Israeli enemy knows that the next war will be the last, and that if it lost, there will no longer be an Israel,” he said.

He also said reiterated remarks he made 16 years ago that Israel was weaker than a “spider web.”

“I tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu today that yes, Israel is weaker than a spider web and cannot fight and defend itself,” Nasrallah said.

Nasrallah praised the July war as a major “historic turning point” for Israel, which had many implications, including the change of Israeli ideology and strategy.

He said that the most important defeat for the Israelis following the war was the loss in confidence within Israeli institutions and its people of its invincibility and the doubt it created over its continued existence.

“Israel during the war was hit at its soul, confidence, determination and pride.”

The Hezbollah leader said Lebanon’s victory in the war is based on Israel’s failure to achieve its objectives, which ultimately boiled down to creating a “new Middle East,” as previously stated by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Nasrallah said that the US is currently fighting the war on behalf of Israel, as it is no longer able to undertake a successful confrontation.
